I had a good day yesterday. Nonononono. Let me re-phrase. I had a freakingfantastic day yesterday. After recovering from my Wednesday-night-half-bottle-of-wine-while ugly-crying-in-front-of-best-dude debacle, not sleeping, and waking up around 6 am yesterday (withOUT child, mind you), things perked up in a big way.
No, I didn't win the lottery I don't play.
No, Matt Brady didn't profess his undying love for me.
No, I didn't organize my cabinets like Tawna.
No, I didn't magically lose those last pesky 15 lbs.
BUT, friends, my day started with coffee and all of you, mid-day lunch with the hubs, I found the PERFECT pair of jeans (the angels sang), and something happened I can't yet share. Yeah, I'm sneaky like that, but you *heart* me anyway.
Random Fact: I always wear three (sometimes four) black rubber bands around my right wrist. One is for my father's life. The one I didn't get to be much a part of. One is for his death. The one I didn't get to be a part of at all. The third is for the baby I lost last September. The one that will always be a part of me. Occasionally I'll wear a fourth, for its actual use-to put my hair up into a ponytail. Even though the offspring told me I'm not beautiful with my hair up. I think I do it anyway to rebel. Against my 3yo.
Random Fact: This is for Sheri. I was a dancer all my life. Until I hit high school anyway. Elton John wrote an ironic song about me. You might have heard of it. You know, Tiny Dancer. I was the largest effing dancer in every effing class, every effing year. One year we wore two-piece outfits. Oh yeah. It was as flattering as toilet glasses on my face. Wait...
Thanks Elton for making me a freaking sore thumb (as if I wasn't already). Because I was a fattie. Seriously.
Thanks for the feel-up. And right before the weekend! I feel so...so...loved! And special! And appreciated! Wait, you mean I'm *not* supposed to tie my self-respect into these feel-ups? Hmm. I need to have a talk with my therapists. With all the contest biznass goings-on, I know our relationship has suffered, but I promise I'll spend more quality time with you next week. And I promise not to let anyone else feel me up until then (well, I'll try)...
Until then friends, what kind of hobbies did you have growing up? Dancing? Eating? Crying? Hmm. Maybe all those were just me...
Team. Candyland. OUT.

I love how you said "talk with my therapists." Plural. Thats smart. If you don't like what one says you can always get a second opinion.
For me it was reading. I immersed myself in books and they took me away from a childhood that was so not the Huxstables. But it made me appreciate word usage and helped to shape me into the wannabe writer I am today.
Pretty freakin' cool!
Have a great weekend and share...share...share. In your honor I am now wearing a thick black rubberband on my wrist too!
Being totally un-athletic, I didn't dance or play any sports. To this day, the only sport I can do well is ski -- and my husband taught me that.
So ... high school hobbies *besides* writing?
I'm gonna have to say Dungeons and Dragons -- thus outing myself as a colossal nerd.
I'm laughing, I'm crying. Oh, you've got me all tied up in a black rubber band! What a sweet and brave post.
I'm sorry for your Dad and your baby. (hugs)
But I hear you loud and clear on the bad effing night thing... I had one of those earlier this week where I nearly barbecued my MS, convinced I'd be much better off selling souvenirs on some beach. Some Twitter pals rescued me from my funk.
Growing up, I was a dancer. A good one. Until high school, when the mean girls clique voted me OUT of the dance club. These days, I dance for exercise (Zumba, baby! It's gonna kill me.) I tried a hip hop class once, nearly cracked a hip in the process.
My hobby now is simple - chocolate! Large quantities of it.
Hang in! There's a whole bunch of people pulling for you out here in the web.
Tiny Dancer was my wedding song... no joke. I played video games growing up. Still do actually.
hi miss candace! im real happy you sound lots better and i hope your weekend is lots of fun. i started out collecting hot wheels when i was little and i still do. mostly i did stuff you could do in bed cause of being soooo sick so much. last year my doctor got me into writing and i love it. she got me on the blog too and thats a really cool hobby for me. now im playing baseball and swimming and those are cool for sure.
...biggy hugs from lenny
I loved to play softball, football, basketball--basically, I was a tomboy, except I'm a wussy tomboy. I didn't like climbing trees and I'm not all that daring.
I can't wait to find out what the good thing was. Keep us posted!
Eating and watching TV were my hobbies. My parents didn't encourage anything else. Actually, they didn't encourage those ones either. That was all me!
Boy, times have changed. Now exercising, photography, and writing are my hobbies. :D
Can't wait to hear the good stuff! :D
Glad things are looking up. And finding that perfect pair of jeans which is just about impossible to find and comes along once every 5 years - congrats! :)
It's not about the size of the dancer (or the size of their dancing) but about the amount of joy they feel bursting from their heart.
I just made that up but I think it's true.
Also I think I can guess what happened! I'm going to be so excited if I'm right.
sigh... so glad I wasn't the only tubby dancer... My mom actually said "you're not fat, you're beautiful" to me. wah wah waahhh... :D
have a great one~
You couldn't have chosen a better artist for me to relate to: freaking Elton John. "Don't let the Sun..." 'K, I'll stop. You are awesome. Thank you. I'm blessed to have found you.
Hey, love that you got to spend some Q-time with the hubs. As your plate slowly beings to fill--because it will, girl. You will get pubbed-up and you will fill that family you desire--the time you'll share will dwindle. Cherish all the little, quirky things he does. And yes, even the annoying ones.
Secret: the hubs was crabbing about $ with me going away for the weekend. U know, to hang with Bon Jovi. I happened to mention that the honking camera we have will just not do at a concert. He said, "We're not getting a new camera."
He called me this morning around 7:30 from TARGET. He'd bought me a thin camera to fit in my back pocket. I have to pick it up at his work before I leave. I think I'll keep him.
";-)
Crying was definitely one of them! Hmm what else did I do... oh all kidding aside I ran cross country and loved it, gave me time to de-stress and relax. I really should run again but food is so much more fun!
So glad you had a great day to turn things around :) And I'm excited to hear about this news you won't share yet!
Growing up, hobbies for me were sports - all and any of them. I miss those days. Now I'm lucky if I don't injure myself on the golf course.
Aw, I'm happy you're happy! I think this bodes well for a fantastic weekend ahead.
I loved to read, write, run, do gymnastics and play piano. Basically I liked to do everything because I hated being bored!
I'm glad you had such a great day! Congrats on the jeans. Perfect fit denim is a magical gift and when we find it, we must seize the opportunity to look and feel awesome.
We should celebrate & appreciate the good days when the happen...sometimes that's not very often. Glad you had a great day!
Hobbies growing up? Barbies & writing. Not at the same time and not necessarily in that order.
Reading and horseback riding. I danced until high school too (ballet), when I finally figured out I was a bit of a klutz. Fortunately, with horseback riding, the horse did most of the work. And, of course, with reading I could be whoever and whatever I wanted to be.
The rubber band around my wrist right now came from my 4 year old's hair. It has a big clump of hair attached to it.
I read when I was growing up. We lived in the middle of no where surrounded by people who didn't like or want to like us. So I stayed in my room and read. My dad called me a slug. Lovely.
I also played piano and frequently sang along (my PTO phase). I am an alto and it never quite worked out.
In high school my hobbies were dance, theater, and love. I was always in LOVE with boyfriends. It was my oxygen. Or my oxy.
I think my toddler has been talking to your toddler; his latest obsession is pulling my hairband out of my hair and racing off with it and he Won't Give It Back!
I'm sorry for your pain that your other bands represent.

Can't wait to hear what your good news is. And I love the bands. I have a sweater that belonged to my sister who died when she was 45 (her husband died less that two months before). She was a second mother to me (I lost my mom at 61, my dad at 58 and several friends). Anyway, whenever I'm feeling down, I wear Wendy's sweater. My reporters and editors know the sweater and the story behind it. So when I wear it to work, they say: You must have needed a Wendy hug today. I feel wrapped in love when I wear it. I also have a piece of my dad's clothes and a piece of my mom's. Anyway, my hobbies include running, golfing, reading, writing, traveling. I played the violin as a youngster and the oboe and guitar. I also played a ton of sports.
Have a super weekend Candyland, Buffy
That is so touching about the black bands you wear. I wore one for about a year when my brother died, but it got too painful for me to talk about when people asked me why I was wearing it, and the constant reminder made me constantly sad. I'm glad you can wear them as you should--as a memory, rather than sorrow.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for the congrats on the award! :-)

I hate it when you do that! Say you have good news and then make us wait! GRRRR!
I used to dance too. But you see, that's the problem with us creative types. We want to stick our fingers in way too many pies and we never stick with anything long enough. But I tell ya, that's going to change with writing, right Candy?
Miss ye ...
