Until then, part ONE.
Something shifted this spring when the hubs and I caught another Used show (two, actually) and the opening band, New Medicine kindasorta stole my heart. Brady, my friend, prepare to blush a little more. #sorrybutyouknowiheartyou
Let's make a
*pause for dramatic effect*
I pretty much freaked, pounded my fists against the sky, fell to the floor and screamed "why?" (OR something a little less dramatic). Then, I calmed myself and scoured the internet for anyone selling tix but came up empty. Another friend offered to sacrifice her ticket, but that just felt wrong (though, would have accepted if need be; I'm only human)(Come on) (I mean, really) (It's effing New Medicine) (Couldn't miss it).
But, being the resourceful minx I am, I took a
Hours later, this popped up in the old inbox:
Being the coolest dude ever, he responded by saying the unimaginable.
He said Candyland plus one were on the guest list. I thought:
Okay, seriously?! What super hot rockstar is actually a cool human who helps out a fan? Matt Brady. That's who. (And new BFF Larry *insert secret supercool handshake*)*pause so Candyland can pee a little...*
We got to the show and (still ready to vomit) ROCKED OUT.
It was hot and I was a steaming pile of sweaty mess (sexy, yeah) but made my way back to the merch table to meet the guys. Makeup running down my face there he was...and..yum, yeah....#incasehesreading #illstopnow #footinmouth #DOH!
It wasn't just him either. They're all supersweet and gorgeous. My friends and I chatted with them all night and as we left, felt like we'd just hung out with old friends. Like Dan, the guitarist.
Anyway, the night was like a rockstar Cinderella (call me, uh, Candyella). Except I didn't have to clean shit. And I didn't try on anyone's shoes (glass slippers) because that's gross. I was just a girl with a wish (to go see New Meds), and a fairy goddude (Larry) (but he'f no fairy, but an awesome dude) who made my night and let me meet my imaginary princes (yeah, you know who by now). And then I left and totally turned into a pumpkin.
On a serious note, I did chat with M. Brady about his upcoming trip to Ghana, his other talents and the embarrassment of reading these posts about himself. More on this tomorrow, along with the contest inspired by him and his work with Joy 2 the World. Before that, I urge you to check out the two links below to read more about his involvement with this organization. If you're not inspired to do something, read it again.

Until tomorrow's CONTEST, tell me friends: Have you ever made an ass out of yourself with someone way too cool?
Candyland Out.

Your photo-shopping is always the bomb! Seriously. It makes it for me. Guess I'm a picture book kind-of-gal. Excited for tomorrow.
How fun! Now I'm kinda bummed I didn't go see them at Summerfest. (they are pretty cute, hey?
Oh, I LOVE it when a plan comes together! Sounds like you enjoyed a great show - and, dude. Those pictures are hilarious :D
Oh, this looks like you had a freakin fantastic time! YAY!
Me? I'm afraid I've never met anyone cool enough to make myself look stupid over. I'm pretty lame. ;-)

Oh, wow, you do have a head, Candyland!
rock on--linkin up! :o)
I'd be pretty flattered if someone wrote this kind of post about me (if I was in a bad and you know, hot like them, and obviously talented...) Great tribute, Miss Candyrella. Looking forward to contest deets. xo
Can't wait for the contest and I am totally going to check out these links.
Where can I get my "I Heart Candyland" T-shirt? I would buy one if you decided to sell them for charity.
It's like a dozen different kinds of awesomeness that he found you on Facebook and gave you guest passes! What fantastic pictures, and what an incredible time you must have had!
I know it's inspired you to host a whopping big contest.
Has it inspired you in a fictional, literary way? A new scene, a new character, a new story?
Matt Brady obviously recognized your total coolness--of course he wanted you there! :) (Seriously, he sounds like a Very Nice Guy.) And what great pics!
Great pictures, you crack me up. Looks like you had a great time. Can't wait to see what you've cooked up for your contest.
You're basically totally awesome Candace. I don't know these Bert or Matt guys but I'm confident that one day they will realize it was THEM who were lucky to be hanging out with YOU.
Just sayin.

Last summer at SCBWI, meeting all these famous authors, I was totally going fangirl on them. But I got some great photos, met some cool people, and even my son was jealous :)
Um, yes. Every day of my life. LOVE this post!
what kind of prizes are you looking for donation? Awesome pics and what a rad guy to give you passes like that!
Yes I have. Let's not talk about it.
They sound awesome! I can't believe you got on the list. You are so cool! =)
Go to my blog, there's a surprise for you!
I swear you have the best rock star stories. Can I come hang out with you some day? Or better yet, can I be you? And the lesson I learned from this story was: It never hurts to ask. (Also, rockers are hot, but I already knew that).
Totally cool! I'm such a wuss, I never would have thought of asking.
Very cool. And congratulations on the query win!
O.M.G.!!! This is one of the coolest stories I've ever heard! Don't you love it when "super-humans" show how down-to-earth they can be? AWESOME!!
I have been embarrassingly fan-girl with James Dashner for the past year - so much so that he totally knows who I am. There have been e-mails, blog tributes, autographed giveaways, and I even made sure he was booked as the key guest at the 2011 Montana State reading Conference! The poor man probably has a restraining order in the works! Ha ha. :-)
