Feel me up Friday Awards: The day the dishes cried

Okay so I've got a confession: Every time I see a post, comment, update, or love letter re: Write On Con, a little bit of jealously fills my blood pool and dances around. As much fun as it looks like everyone had (MEGAFUN), Candyland has been #busybusybusy this week. So busy, the computer and I sort of decided to see other people, mututally, of course, but I think I was more into it than the "puter" (as the offspring calls it)...

Now that I've missed everything important on the web (sucksucksuck), I'm back with not as near exciting news as some of you have (like @MatthewMRush for winning @JoSVolpe's query contest!!!), but I'll try. Ehh, who am I kidding...my news blows peanuts compared to the awesome I missed, but I'll try.

Candyland is prepping for a move, getting the offspring registered for preschool, planning a massive 4th birthday party, and counting down the minutes until tomorrow's New Medicine show. The move was unplanned and is happening, like, now. The preschool thing has been a headache and a half, the bday party is fun to plan but takes up a lot of useful brain space (do I have useful brain space left?), and ummmmmm New Medicine is my drug of choice and tomorrow I get to see MattBradyMattBradyMattBrady!!!!! #yum #betterthansigfever

Random Fact: When putting dishes away, I found myself moving the lonely ones in the back, to the front of the row, and placing the clean to the back. I never realized I did it until I knocked a glass down in my attempt to give all ceramics a fair chance at being used. I'd hate for them to sit in the cupboard and cry. And, though I will only drink coffee out of 2 old, crummy, white cups, we have about 12 really nice coffee cups. I'm sure those 12 that never get used talk all kinds of shizz about me. #ocdblowsbutiskindofentertaining

Random Fact: Speaking of Matthew Rush, you may or may not have seen us call each other weird names, and I hate when people have inside jokes that they don't share, soooooo, because of a story he told me in the comments HERE, I now call him Tim, and he calls me Beth, or CBBC (Candy Beth Bethany Candyland)...

It's good to know I'm not the only weirdo around these parts.

That was FANFREAKINTASTIC! You were great (like always). Let's do dinner tonight so I don't feel so cheap. You pay. I'll wear my best head, you wear your best comment.

So friends, PLEASE fill me in here. What was the best part about WOC? Better yet, do you have a completely random name people call you?

Candyland. OUT.

I've not been able to participate in WriteOnCon this week either. :(

Bone. They call me Bone. There are always derivations...Hambone, Tbone, Bonehead. But it usually always come back to Bone. :)

We have just bonded, do you feel it?

I missed most of WriteOnCon, too. Daughter birthday, unexpected date with hubs and general life distractions. I feel like the geeky girl who didn't get asked to the dance. But I know it's my own dang fault.

Second, I TOTALLY do the same thing with the dishes. I put new plates at the bottom of the stack so the others get pushed up and used. I rearrange the drinking glasses.

Ahhh, it's so good to know I'm not alone!

hee hee feeling sorry for the coffee cups that don't get used! how cute! when i was a kid i felt the same way about the stuffed animals who didn't sleep in bed with me, so i'd pile them all up on the bed... i didn't want any hurt feelings! (of course, i thought they would murder me in my sleep if i hurt their feelings and was really just saving my own skin... maybe i was a bit disturbed...)

Glad I'm not the only one to anthropomorphize the dishes. Thank you for making me feel less weird! :)

Also, thanks for explaining the "Beth" thing -- I had been wondering about that.

The best thing about WriteOnCon is that everything is still online - so if you go to the site you can read all the essays, vlogs, and recordings of the live chats. I wasn't able to attend all of it live, but it's pretty cool even after it's technically 'over.' :)
And I don't have any random names, they're all pretty much spinoffs of my real name. Sadly boring, I know. :D

I read some of the posts and watched some of the vlogs, but mostly I hung out on the critique boards. I read somewhere near 60 samples of other people's writing -- and I saw some fantastic stuff! I didn't mean to do that many, but it was addictive ... I couldn't stop! I'll probably wander back there later today.

I don't have any nicknames, unless you count "Mom" and "Mrs. Salerni."

However, my principal calls me Di. She is the only person in the world who does. Every time she says it, I look around cluelessly to see who she's talking to ...

I loved Natalie Fischer's live chat. She was too adorable for words and I really just laughed 90% of the time.

The only nickname that I had that stuck was SalbAnne. When I was in the army we had to write our last names on our Kevlar headbands... Well I was gone and someone wrote mine for me Salb,Anne (maiden name of course. it means ointment in german) So all of the drill sergeants called me SalbAnne for the rest of basic.

WriteonCon was great - and the best part is that you can go back and view all the transcripts and such, so you really don't need to feel left out as well.

We have tons of coffee cups as well but both me and the man have our favorites and they seem to be the only two that are ever used.

While I may have linked WriteOnCon I certainly didn't have time either, but I know it'll be up for a year!

I'm sort of suppose to be packing for my own move in one week. Already chipped my nail polish and I still have one room left to pack.

I was only able to participate one day. I am so glad we can go back and see what we've missed. They did such a great job on woc. I can't wait until next years. =)

I've missed most of WriteOnCon, too. I don't think I have a nickname, but when we were little, mine and my sisters' nicknames were Mud (Mary), Cud (Carrie), Jud (Judy), and Sud (me). My brother (Ed) was just Ud. Actually, we do still use those for each other, so I guess I do have a nickname.

I loved the live chats! There was so much information given (a ton of which I wish I'd learned ages ago) and I'm glad the site is staying up for perusal.

Oh Bethany Tim was busy too, hence he missed this wonderful post and all its glory. But umm ... you started it, fun as it is, so give yourself the amazing, insane, um ... a little bit disturbing, credit.

You are so fun to be friends with.

WriteOnCon was awesome!
Luckily you can go back and review the panels and posts when you have time!

I had trouble keeping up too as I kinda sorta started back to work. Blah. But the best part of WOC for me had to be Molly O'Neill's post the first day - I just felt completely validated.

No cutesy nicknames here... I'm bo-ring. :)
