Feel Me Up: Uh-oh. The truth cometh outeth...

So today is a special Feel Me Up. Keeping in line with D.L. + Talli, today is the Significant Other blogfest and you know what that means...

I give you...the hubs.
1. What food or drink is guaranteed to return your loved one to a good mood, even after a bad day writing? Home Made brand Cookies and Cream Ice Cream and a cafe mocha from Tim Horton's (4 Splenda for a medium and 6 for a large)

2. What one thing would you change about your others writing habits? Hmmmm...I love that she writes because it means so much to her and she's good at it. But sometimes I wish she had the ability to let it go when she stopped for the day. It lingers in everything she does and she can't stop thinking about it. I love her for it though.

3. How hard is it to sit by and watch someone you care for struggle to attain a dream...knowing there's very little you can do to help? It's tough (!). Really though, it's hard because there really is nothing I can do other than give her support or take the offspring somewhere so she can have peace and quiet. Sometimes when she's stuck, I try to help her with parts of her story she's stuck on, but I'm probably more of a hindrance than a help.
-Ends-

Yes dear, it IS tough. Geesh. I was hoping for something funny but it just got all serious. Poop. I don't even care if you've washed your hands or not today. Let's have at it.

Random Fact: Last night I twisted a child-proof cap for 5 minutes before setting it aside, and repeating the process two more times. I eventually gave up. Didn't know it was also Candyland-proof.

Random Fact: I don't always listen to the hubs when he's talking. Okay so it's not earth-shattering but he was literally just talking and walked away and I realized I have no effing idea what he just said.

That's it for today, peeps. Next week, more answers, some crap and fill in the blank. Until then tell me, what was the last thing someone said to you that you heard? More importantly, do you ever have problems getting those stupid caps open?

Also, check out these other participants in the blogfest and show some <3
Candyland. OUT.

Hi, Mr. Candyland. Thank you for illuminating your life with The Writer!

Child-proof bottles are so annoying. LOL.

My significant other

I adore your hubby he is super cute!!! I'm glad to see that my husband isn't the only one that struggles with watching the thought process never end.

Shannon said...

So did I watch your hubby feel you up or did I feel him up? So confused.

Thanks for the glimpse into Candy's world, Mr. Land.

At least he can admit he's sometimes a hinderance.
And child-proof means adult-proof - didn't you know that?

Stina said...

I wonder how my hubby would have answered these questions. He's super supportive. That's all I know. I didn't participate because I knew he wouldn't do it. And it would be dry if he did. He's writes and reads business reports all day long (even at bedtime). Need I say more? ;)

I saw a report on tv once on the childproof lids. Turns out kids have an easier time opening them than adult. Go figure!

Erik said Tim. That was all I needed to make my year, even if it wasn't about me.

Hmmm...#2 got me. I got a similar answer...

Great job!!

Very nice! I was expecting ROTFL material, but serious is just as good! :o)

Awww. You are a fortunate woman indeed, to have such a great husband.

Of course, HE'S pretty darned lucky to have you, too. :)

Thanks 'hubs' for sharing what it's like livin life with 'candy':) I meself and usually ok with the childproof caps. Apple sauce and pickle jars always get me. And it's better for me and dear hubby if I only listen to half of what he says:)

Stephanie Lorée said...

Cute! Childproof caps are evil. And did you say something? I must've missed that. :P

Talli Roland said...

I love that your hubs tries to help you get unstuck - that's so sweet!

Yeah, I occasionally glaze over when Mr TR talks, as well.

Ha! I have tunnel vision, too. It's bad when I'm at a bookstore, browsing around. My wife will be like "I'm taking the kids to X store. Meet us there in ten, is that okay?"

Me (while staring at books): "Uh-huh."

Wife and children walk away.

I look up. "Where is everyone? Did they go somewhere? Where the heck am I supposed to go? Shit. I think I'm going to be randomly wandering around the whole mall again. Or I could stay here and look up books until my wife gets fed up."

Your hubs sounds awesome! He even knows your exact Splenda to coffee ratios. That's impressive to me! Last thing I heard someone say to me? "I love you too, Mom." -- My 12 yo son, walking out to catch the bus.

Have a great weekend!

DL Hammons said...

It lingers in everything she does and she can't stop thinking about it.

He nailed it right on the head there, for all of us I'm afraid. Thanks a lot Mr. Candyland for taking part in the fun today. Any chance we get to peek further inside Candy's life, is always welcome. :)

Bwahahahaa. My husband wouldn't even get half of these right. I asked him what my favorite color was and he stared at me. Maybe your hubs should give mine some pointers?

Shannon O'Donnell said...

Thank you to the hubs for his oh-so-sweet answers!! :-)

I have a habit of unintentionally ignoring my wife, too. But sometimes, I'll intentionally ignore her if I've got a great paragraph or chunk of dialog in my head. Sometimes just saying "just a minute" is enough to kill the momentum, sol I'll just "mm-hmm" until I'm done and hope she doesn't notice.

Dan - my wife's post.

Lovely lovely answers, nothings beats the support of understanding and sometimes giving space. Wow!

Love the random facts.

It's great to hear from your hubby. He sounds like a good one. (and looks pretty good too).

Sangu Mandanna said...

Mr. Candyland, you are a good one!

I am also now craving Cookies and Cream. Sigh.

Abby Minard said...

Haha, I'm like that too (the not knowing what they just said). I do that with a lot people- I'm nodding and watchign their lips move but after I'm like, crap, what did they just say?

Wendy Tyler Ryan said...

Great post. Support is support, anyway you can get it!

Elana Johnson said...

What a great post. I wonder what my husband would say about me.

And I highly recommend earphones. That way, your family doesn't even TRY to talk to you. :)

Donea Lee said...

Sometimes I have to consciously make an effort to pay attention to people... Glad to see that your husband takes your writing seriously! :)

This fest is really opening my eyes to what it's like for the non-writer in the family--thanks for sharing!!

Summer Ross said...

I love the fact that he tries to0 "help" you, lol I have never had problems with caps- well maybe a little, but shhh i don't tell people about it. :)

Lydia Kang said...

That was a great entry! I know that foggy feeling after writing...it's so hard to let go of a story sometimes!

Lisa Galek said...

I do that not listening thing occassionally too, partly because I have already heard these stories a billion times and partly because I am thinking about my WIP or something clever for my love interest to say/do.

Poor husbands...

Nicole Zoltack said...

I do that sometimes--not listen to hubby. Then I'll have to ask him to repeat himself. *tries to look all innocent*

LTM said...

yeah, JRM likes to complain that I don't listen to him when he talks. My response, "You use a lot of words..." :D <3

Lindsay said...

Aww. So glad Mr. Candyland is supportive. :)

I'm with you on the child-proof bottles. They are evil. Mind you, I have trouble opening the baby-gate on the stairs at my friend's house. LOL.

Colene Murphy said...

Great post!! Damn those child-proof bottles and their trickery.

Vicki Rocho said...

Love hearing from all these spouses! I struggled with a stinking child-proof cap last night. I swear the writing on the top of the lid is still etched in my palm I pressed so hard.

Natalie Aguirre said...

That's so sweet your husband answered the questions. I doubt mine would. I love learning more about authors through these kind of questions.

Margo Kelly said...

Hmmm.... GREAT POST!! Loved it.

Heather Hellmann said...

Your husband sounds like a great person.

alexia said...

Distracting the offspring is always helpful... LOL, I feel you on the stupid childproof caps.

Jenny said...

I always tell people not to take the meds with the child proof cap. You can die before you get the bottle open. :)

Lenny Lee said...

hi miss candace! mr eric rocks! for that cap stuff one time no one one could get it open. then my big brother jason who does weight lifting & restling & football got just whamo broke it right off. for the last thing i heard but tried not to a bunch of times & it got lots louder is go to bed NOW lenny. ha ha.
...hugs from your most biggest fan

Susan Fields said...

Serious or not, that was a great post and a lot of fun to get to hear from Mr. Candyland! He sounds super supportive and I'd love it if my husband would take our offspring out when I need some peace and quiet.

The last thing that I actually heard was my daughter tell me where I'm supposed to pick her up at the mall. I can't tune that out or I'd be driving around the parking lot for hours. :(

Kelly Polark said...

What a sweet and supportive hubby!
Cute blogfest!

Kari Marie said...

Knowing exactly how much sugar goes in your coffee is impressive! I have a theory that they develop that childproof stuff by teating it with adults instead of kids.

Elena Solodow said...

Hopefully while you weren't listening to him, you were coming up with some great writing ideas...

That was seriously sweet and adorable.

Also, those caps are a pain in the butt, and I think kids have an easier time opening them than we do.
