Eat a lot, give a little, dream of puppies. Because I said so.

It's that time of year again. You know, the suck-your-wallet-dry-because-baby-wants-another-Barbie-thingy-and-hubby-wants-another-snowboard-thingy time of year. Yes, Christmas. This year, while stuffing your face and *not* fitting into your stretch pants (yes, I'm talking to me), in the middle that gift list, consider giving to someone in need. There's so many great charities, like Joy 2 the World, that could benefit from your monies.

Today, I want to thank everyone who's contributed thus far. In fact, this post is for YOU. Change starts with one person. Sure, my holiday list has a Keurig on it. And some makeup (because I leave the house SO much), and socks and crap, but I will also go through the offspring's toys and donatedonatedonate.

If you're wondering why I'm so effing joyous, it's because yesterday, I received my Be The Match donor card in the mail. After months of processing, I am officially a bone marrow donor and let me tell ya, it feels GOOD.
So this holiday season, when you're listening to your New Meds CD (btw, I have like 500 promo stickers, so if you want some, hollaaa) and thinking about Candyland, give a couple buckeroos to one of these amazing organizations and your (metaphorical) stocking will be hung with care (not innuendo...meh...maybe it is).
-Joy 2 the World
-Be The Match Registry
-St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
-ASPCA
-Susan G. Komen for the Cure
-Shriner's Hospitals for Children

Give, and you'll feel as awesome as this:
So until tomorrow friends, with 18 days until Jesus's big birthday bash<--and presents-->what is ONE thing you will do to make someone's day brighter?

Such a great post and I will be looking into donating something to one of those charities. :)
I'm doing a lot of donating to my church. My kiddos have way too many toys and we still have baby stuff. All of it must go, so it's being donated to someone who needs it.
Great post!

I'm feeling the love! Great post! Giving this holiday season always makes one feel joyous, if you're giving to the right people, those who appreciate the gifts and are in need!

I love the picture. Talk about MAD inspiration :)

I always like to buy a gift for a boy and a girl for Operation Christmas Tree. And of course, it's impossible to say no when asked to Donate to St. Jude.

Truly inspiring post, Candace! You totally rock...:)

Hope Santa brings you that Keurig!

Excellent post, Candace!
This is the time of giving. We give more to the food pantry and toys for tots this time of year. Throughout the year we must donate 50 bags to Veteran charities too.
Congrats on being a bone marrow donor. I give blood, but wow, bone marrow is above and beyond that.
And speaking of giving, bring a few extra NM stickers on Saturday for my boy! :)
And why don't I know what a Keurig is?

I completely forgot. And now we can't afford the shirts. DAMN! I'll go donate directly right now.

Have to admit, with son-in-law in the Navy, I'm a bit biased toward charities that benefit military personnel. They give so much so we can continue living in the freedom we take for granted. Feels good to give a little something back. :)

Done, son!

My biggest give at Christmas is the slippers that I knit for residents in nursing homes. A lot of those people don't receive any gifts at Christmas, because they no longer have loved ones who are living. I knit slippers and wrap them and give them to nursing homes in the area. That way, if anyone is without a gift, they have something to give them and they won't feel left out.

i always donate to local charities. Even if i can't afford to give them money, i frequently donate clothing and books because every little bit helps.
How do you become a bone marrow donor?

You have such a big heart, Candace. Right after Thanksgiving each year, we go through the kids toys, clothes, snow boots, etc...and fill bags for the Salvation Army. We take three tags from the Giving Tree at church, one for each kiddo, and go shopping. We also donate a Christmas dinner to a family in need. :-)

You're a bone marrow donor? Yikes! That's a damn painful procedure ... Aren't you brave!

I tried to donate blood once but they said they did not want brit blood mixing with american blood jk foreigners are not allowed to donate.
but way to go candy, we do st Judes along with some others, then some employers also match whatever donations you make from ur paychk that is something pple also want to look out for. its a great opportunity.

We're regular donors to St. Jude's. I'm so thankful for my own healthy children.

What a great post- I just donated to our local child abuse prevention house (in light of all the fb cartoon characters, I felt I needed to actually DO something). We also cleaned out our daughter's toys to donate- we do every year before christmas because she gets so much dang stuff!!

That's awesome that you're a bone marrow donor. It's a way more complicated process than just giving blood. And wouldn't it be amazing if you *did* get to donate to Lenny? Very cool.

We usually do the shoeboxes with Samaritain's Purse, and donate lightly used winter coats and gear to The Salvation Army, (as well as plug a little somethin'-somthin' in the kettle).
