I'm officially beefy, but Bert + BR80 don't care

So when you felt me up Friday, I told you the hubs and I have started on a new journey. You know...the DON'T BE FAT ANYMORE journey. I told you he lost 7 lbs in the first week while I only lost 1.5, though before I showered I re-weighed (in my birthday suit) and lost another 2lbs. I'll take it!

And though this isn't a weight loss blog, I think, much like anything else in life, by sharing, I'm making myself more accountable. Plus, you know I like to tell you things. But this is not a resolution. I started before the new year and I will continue long after other resolutions dissipate. I hope. Maybe I'm full of it. Who knows.

In the first week of our DON'T BE FAT ANYMORE journey, these are some of the things we've eaten:
Cheese omelets
Garlic rubbed sirloin steaks
(yeah I burned the garlic. What of it?)
Double cheese meatloaf
Feta-stuffed chicken breasts
Mexican chili with jalapeno corn muffins
Chicken Fajitas
Cinnamon rolls
Cheese, green pepper and onion quesadillas
Mini pizzas
Ice cream sundaes
French toast
Chocolate
Olive Garden. Hellz yeah.

And still to come this week:
Fillets with mustard wine glaze
Roasted chicken and potatoes
Steak with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes

Needless to say, it's never been easier to drop the pounds than now. I also think it's a great time to purge all the negative energy in our lives as well. By eating better and taking care of ourselves, maybe life will feel...better...(she hopes).

Oh, and a big thank you to those of you who've sent both physical and ecards. You have NO IDEA how grateful I am. They truly have brightened my dark days. But most especially, I want to thank Kelly for sending something that made me smile for like an hour:
Why yes, that IS my two favorite dudes (aside from the hubs), BERT + BR80 = <3

Until tomorrow friends, what was the best meal you had last week? And how are those resolutions going thus far? On the wagon or so far off, you're all "what resolution?"
Candyland. Out.

Wow. Kelly outdid herself and I love it!! Way to go!!

Well that food sounds amazing and it's 7 am and now has me starved. I'm at work (with toothpain) and haven't touched anything until I can speak to the dentist.

Needless to say this post was pure torture this morning.

Glad that you're still sticking with it! I can definitely feel the difference in my body when I eat well and when I don't.

Best thing I've had this past week?

Locally grown tomatoes and light mozzarella cheese from a local dairy sprinkled with fresh basil and drizzled with a tiny amount of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Soo freaking good!

Great post, good for you! My husband and I have been on the wagon as well. He lost seven pounds to my five without going to the gym. That just makes me all kinds of irritated!

Congrats on the success so far!

I've officially lost about 2 pounds already, but the reason isn't the amazing things I'm eating (though you put kale in anything and I"m a happy girl), but the fact that I get to pick what I'm eating now. Been with the in-laws for 3 weeks (read=gained 8 lbs) and one week back (read=lost 2). More vegetables and the lack of endless supplies of fudge certainly helps :)

Good luck with your progress.

Resolutions? What, did we start a new year or something?

At this point in my life I really can't eat anything that doesn't make me gain weight, but girl scout cookies came in last night. So that's great for the never ending diet.

That's some good eatin' to go along with the weight loss! My eating healthier goal um starts this week as I've eaten more chocolate chip cookies last week than my kids did combined. My hubby is gone during the week so I have to say I cook for the kids and eat with them (eggs, spaghetti, hot dogs) instead of culinary masterpieces (and my hubby is a better cook than I). But we did make pizza together and that was yum! And we made choc chip cookies besides the ones I bought earlier in the week...
Glad you liked the card :)!

Way to go on the weight loss and the healthy eating.

I don't remember what I ate last week. I'm not very creative in the kitchen. I prefer to spend my time writing not cooking. But I did suprise my husband on Friday with a dish that I haven't made since we were dating (and I was trying to impress him). ;)

mmm, this post made me hungry. I think my favorite meal was the frozen sushi I tried saturday night. IT was surprisingly good (and cheaper than take out)

hmm... best meal last week... sheesh. JRM cooks all the dinners, so I might have to go w/the "all the ones I didn't have to cook," which isn't very specific, I know.

Good luck on your WW diet, although that looks more Atkins... :D And remember guys lose weight faster. grumble grumble grumble... <3

Good Luck with the weight loss. That is one area of my life where I finally just decided to let it be what it is going to be. I am of the opinion we spend too much time harping on the things we dislike about ourselves and not enough on the things we do like.

You know I am routing for you.

my sister made a beef tagine and that was super nummy. We have a subscription to cooking light and they very rarely steer us wrong

Good luck with the weight loss! The holidays made me regain 5 pounds but considering that I've already lost some of that and I've lost over 30 pounds since I gave birth to son #2, I think I'm doing good. Still roughly 20 pounds from my target weight yet though.

Mmm! That looks like a lovely menu for the week! Good luck with your weight loss. And I totally agree with you, if you feel healthier, it might make you feel better about life in general. That body/mind connection and all that jazz.

I was going through the blogs I follow and realized to my horror that I wasn't following yours!!! That horrible oversight on my part has been remedied!

Best of luck on your weight loss goals. I'm hoping to drop 15 pounds this year myself. I'm doing okay on that. But I'm doing great on my writing goals!

YUM! I'm on a similar journey (though with MUCH more to lose). I was doing good, but my MIL came to visit and wanted to recreate Christmas dinner. FML, back on go those 6 pounds I'd lost :-( Good luck!

Yummy! Can I come and eat at your house? That's an awesome menu. The best meal I had last week was boneless pork tenderloin covered in homemade rosemary sauce. My hubby is an amazing cook! :-)

One of my best girlfriends & I get together once a week to make meals consisting of whatever the two of us can cobble together from our respective refrigerators and pantries. It always requires a bit of creativity, and we never know what we're going to get.

Glad you're hanging in there. Be well!

You have a ton of good food to eat! I may have to do what you're doing.

My best meal was steak and potatoes. So so good. =)

Wow to all the yummy food. Your weight loss so far is great. It sucks that men always seem to shed more quicker. :(

I know you can do it.

Man. Rough day over here. Still, if this means Timmy is the fourth favorite dude in ya life ... we'll take it!

That food sounds yummy!! Want to come over to my house and make it for me? And you're right- if you started before the new year, it's not a resolution. I prefer the term "goal". Good luck with your weight loss goal!

What a cool card!!!

WTG on your WW goals...I'm down too. But my menu isn't nearly as yummy as yours. :(

Have a great week!!!!!!

I don't know about last week, but I'm currently into some ice cream that is really floating my boat.

Now I want an ice cream float.
