Growing a penis is hard work (pun intended)

Um, sorry for the absentee post yesterday. My bad.

As most of you know, I've been baking a bun in my oven for a few months now and as of today, we know this little pastry is sure to be of the male specimen. I know, because I saw the parts. Sure, I would be lying if I told you I didn't tear up at the sight of a man in my uterus. Because I love my princess SO much, I've been daydreaming of another little angel.

Actually, let me be honest (and when am I not?).

I cried. And cried. And cried. (And cried some more). After everything I've gone through (two losses in two years, one healthy princess), I know I should just shut up and be grateful for this miracle. And I am, believe me.

However, my heart breaks knowing all the dresses, baby dolls and pink blankies will be stuffed away. Until the hubs lets me have another. Or never. So today, friends, Imma hafta take a step back and let myself get used to the fact that there has been, in fact, a penis growing inside my body all these weeks, without my knowledge...

In the mean time, tell me, do you have a boy or girl human? What about pet? If you have both, how were they different? And you may want to keep your boy horror stories to yourself in my time of acceptance :)

Congratulations on your little boy! Once you wrap your mind around the idea, you're going to love having one of each. I know I do. :)

Congratulations on your little baby boy! As someone who has been trying to get pregnant for sometime I understand the feeling of wanting to get more than one little miracle!

You cry, and cry, and cry if it's what you want!!! And know that if you want a shoulder to cry on I'm a text away.

I have two cats. They are bundles of joy and also little shits. Imagine that ;)

Wohoo! I know it's a huge change but wait til you have a little man who will do anything to protect his momma. It's one of the best feelings ever!

Congrats! I have one of both. Advice? Remember to put something over that penis straight away when you are changing the diaper otherwise you will get very wet. Uncontrollable projectiles, thats what they are :)

Congrats! You'll have a blast with a little boy. I have one of each, and they are both amazing in their own ways. But I agree with all your commentors -- he was a little man from the get-go. So protective! And definitely cover the penis the moment BEFORE the cold air hits. LOL! Each diaper change was two diapers for us. (And I didn't do disposibles. :<)

Hugs to you!

Congrats! I have 2 girls and 1 boy (all human). My boy is a momma's boy (I'm pretty sure they all are for most of their childhood). And let me tell you this--that boy is going to worship you. Mine (7 yrs old) actually gets jealous and frankly a little pissed at my relationship with my wife. He's challenged me to many fights to become the sole male in my wife's life. And you're gonna love it.

Wow! A boy! Congrats.

We should have a baby naming contest. I think Brady is a great name. Also really like Fluffernut, so go figure. Fluffernut fits better in Candyland...well you decide.

I have two gorgeous little boys! And I've also gone through two miscarriages (quite positive that those were my two little girls). I was disappointed when I found out I was having a boy the first time, and I was disappointed the second time I found out I was having a boy. But now, I just can't imagine anything but those little guys. When they look into my eyes with pure adoration and lean in for a sloppy kiss, I just want to start crying.

You are so lucky to be having both a boy and a girl, but I do understand it's a shock when you first find out the gender wasn't quite what you were hoping for.

Suggestion: I'm done having children, but as my second grew out of his clothes, I couldn't bear to pack them away. So, I made two quilts out of all the infant clothes and gave them to my kids for Christmas. This way, I can look at the adorable clothes and the memories associated with them all the time. :)

Congrats, Candace! You will love having one boy and one girl.
And as a mom to two boys and one girl....the boys are much easier!!!

Oh, wow, I missed this big annoucement!!!! Congrats, Cadance!

I have two boys and a girl. All I can say is make sure you have lots of sanitary wipes for after they're potty trained. Man, I can't wait for one of them to figure out aim is important. :P

LMAO... love the title of this one! I don't have kids and after having a sister that has been living with me for the last 4 years that has 3 boys & a girl I have to say that they are both not my cup of tea! Ok, hers aren't... I'm sure with the right upbringing they could be a joy:-) I do have pets, have had tons over the years. I prefer female cats & dogs for some reason. I think just cause I've had issues with the male counterparts 'marking their territory':-) I do have a male cockatoo and had a choice between the him & the female but was told the male gets larger and is more snuggly (who would have guessed on the suggle factor!) so I went with the male. Congrats on it being a boy... now you have 1 of each:-)

I have two boys. We didn't find out the sex of either. I gotta confess, when #2 was born, I was upset. I wanted a little girl so badly. I wanted to dress her up every day and couldn't wait for tea parties and to play dolls with her. I love son #2, don't get me wrong. I do. But I know what you mean because I went through it too. Still am sometimes when I think about when we're going to start trying again. I don't know what I'll be like if the next is also a boy. Bottom line, of course I want the baby to be healthy. There's no question about that. But I just want a little girl so badly.

Congratulations! Think of it this way, now your other half won't feel so outnumbered. It will be wonderful, I have no doubt!

Congratulations! But I know how you feel; I have a girl and if/when I have another, I also want another little girl. But I bet a boy will bring you joy you never knew of!

I know how you feel too...girls are so easy!! My daughter will just sit and play or color...my son is loud and rarely sits still. I was afraid that I would not know what to do with him...trucks and horseplay are not my thing AT ALL! But when he was born (we didn't know ahead of time that he was a boy) our family felt complete- a perfect little family of four. We knew we only wanted two kids, so that was it. And It's been so great!

I didn't realize we provided horror stories...

AWWWW, a son! I have two and wouldn't trade them for all the pink bows in the world.

Which is really saying something because I cried buckets when I learned my second and last would be another boy for just that reason.

Mine are 16 and Wow! 19 on Sunday and I've learned to stop regretting what I don't have and enjoy the hell out of what I do have - even if it is a pair of penises. (Peni??)

Congratulations, C!

AW, honey, you know when that little mite is born you're not going to give a damn about the dresses! :o) Congrats, Sweetie!

Candace, my husband and I knew we only wanted 2 children. And when the second pregnancy gave me gestational diabetes, we knew we were making the right decision and would have no more.

We were hoping for one of each.

We already had a daughter, and so when I went for the ultrasound, I was praying for a boy. It wasn't.

I cried and cried and cried, just like you said. My husband is the last of his family line, and I had failed to produce a son to continue the name. I cried for the whole of a 3-day President's weekend.

And then I was over it.

I'm so glad I found out in advance, so I could get that crying over long before the baby was placed in my arms. When she came, I was ready for her and loved her to pieces. No disappointment at all.

Go ahead and cry and get it out. You'll be ready for that little stinker when he gets here.

I have had many miscarriages and three sons. I love raising boys. They are awesome. He will win you over. (=
I adopt all my friends and sisters daughters and spoil the crap out of them. Then I send them home and don't have to deal with their diva-ness or hormonal-ness. (=

I have four sisters (no brothers) and have two sons. Sons are awesome. There's a special something between a mother and a son. I'm not sure I can even describe it. There's just a special bond that's different than a daughter/mom bond. In fact, I think that sons are often closer to their mothers than to their fathers. Anyway, you will have a ton of fun with your son. Yes, it will be different from the experiences you had with your daughter, but different is good. You're going to be just fine. I know it.

Congratulations!

I have two boys and a girl--the girl is my youngest. From one mama to another, boys are SO MUCH easier! They are easier to raise, and they are easier to teach in school, and they are cuddlier, and they are just easier! But that's just me. :-)

Congratulations, what great news! I've got two boys, and they're loud, and you definitely need to be aware when changing their nappies for the first few months - and they're absolutely wonderful. I'd love a girl too, but, oh well.

I also dropped by to say thanks for co-hosting the challenge - it was fun and your work is appreciated!

Huge congrats on the little boy news.

I have no little ones myself, but both of my closest friends have 2 y/o girls. I don't know what I'll do if either of them has a boy. I guess I'll need to be more careful changing nappies then. LOL.

Oh, huge congratulations to you! I'm so thankful things are going well for you and the little man.

I have three sons. When I gave birth to my first son I thought, what will I do with a BOY? After having three sons, now 14 and 11 year old twins, I LOVE having boys. There's something special about a relationship between a mother and her sons. And they're extremely easy.

Candace...It's going to be okay. You are going to love this little boy just as much as you love Lilli. I have a friend who is pregnant with twin boys and already has a beautiful little two year old girl. She's worrying too about how she can love the new babies as much as she loves her little girl. I think it's a normal reaction. I only have one daughter, we were lucky to have her. We've talked about adopting another child, but I have those same worries. I know you are going to do just fine with your little boy. Think of all the fun you will have together. I know he'll be beautiful, just like you.
