Like all those affected by the tornadoes.
Those people are utterly and completely helpless, at the hands of Mother Nature and her wrath. Though one thing that always *gets* me in the wake of tragedy are the heroic and inspirational stories of hope and survival. Of a boy who rescued his family. Or a baby found after days of searching. After a lone tree is found standing in the midst of disaster. No matter what happens in our lives...the personal tornadoes, both physically and metaphorically, that make us question our faith or our finiteness, just remember there is one thing you can control:
How much hope you hold on to.
Some might say it doesn't make a difference, whatever will be, will be. I believe coma patients awaken after years of darkness because of hope. I believe cancer in special little men will go into remission for good, because of hope. I believe my second child is still growing inside me, because of hope. That's not to say that those who have it, and still endure tragedy, aren't hopeful enough or aren't deserving of a better outcome.
But I am saying that in a world full of rejection and NO and "I'm so sorry," if you do nothing else, hold onto the hope that better things will come. Somehow, someway. Because without it, exactly what are you holding on to?
What are you hoping for today?
Candyland. OUT.

I'm hoping to bring a ray of sunshine to someone close to me whose world was turned upside down.
I'm hoping this phone will stop ringing long enough for me to get some writing done.
And I'm hoping my utter selfishness goes unnoticed at the karma bank.
Well said.
I'm hoping for good things to happen to everyone I love because it seems everyone has mired in bad. I know that's not true but it feels that way.
Thanks for the reminder. *sends hug*
I'm hoping for peace and calm in the world. So many things seem in turmoil lately.
Sending cyber hugs and hope your way as well.
I hope I can get my MS into the shape I have in mind before sending it out.

...big hugs from lenny
Beautifully said! Hope is the greatest gift we can give ourselves and others. You might be buying a house?! Oh wow, my fingers are crossed for you! And the little one will be healthy, we will it so!
In the end, hope and faith are all we have.
Hope is a wonderful, powerful thing.
I'm hoping to finish packing (yay for vacation!) and that I get done all of my writing projects before we leave (oh, crap, deadlines!)
Yes, yes, yes! Beautiful post, Candace. And I hope so hard for special little men!!!!!! :-)
our outlook and perspective is really the only thing we can control in those types of situations. We can choose to hope, to keep going, trying, fighting, and in some cases, breathing when it's easier to give up. The key is to keep focused on what you can do rather than what you have no control over- great post!
Nice thought. I don't think anyone could experience happiness or peace without hope. It is how we survive and remain positive--even in affliction. If you have ever known anyone without hope-- it is a bleak and devastating thing to see.
Beautiful post. I'm trying to remember that if I put good energy out into the world, it will come back to me, so I need to focus on the good stuff. A lot of days, I don't.
Wonderful and inspiring post! A fabulous reminder to keep your faith and have hope. Thank you!
